Sterilization requirement for the Timesulin

Y. K. Chang Sep 28, 2018 09:19AM CEST

Dear Sir,

As I understood, Timesulin is not a disposable device like the insulin injection pen. The device can be used for more than a year. My concern is the Timesulin unit will be used for such a long time with the withdrawal and insertion of the insulin injection pen, is there sterilization required for Timesulin? If it does, how often and how do I perform the sterilization?

Dear Chang

Thank you for contacting Timesulin.

The Timesulin smart cap comes with a built-in battery, which is non-replaceable and should last for about a year. Approximately one month prior to the battery running out, the timer screen will start fading, indicating that power is running low and that you need to purchase a replacement.

There are a number of reasons we decided to add a non-replaceable battery to Timesulin:
- A battery compartment with an opening and closing flap would have added bulk and introduced the potential of the battery falling out, causing the timer to fail. This would not have been safe.
- Creating this compartment would have made the product more expensive - we aimed to keep costs as low as possible for our users.
- After clicking Timesulin on and off your insulin pen over the course of a year the plastic inside the cap will have worn away, causing a less-snug fit. The last thing we want is for your Timesulin cap to fall off the insulin pen while in your bag.

It is mostly about safety, keeping Timesulin as light and lean and costs as low as possible.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any concerns.

Thank you very much
Kindest regards
